Determine the slope and y-intercept of the graph: 3x + y = 8.

I need help to solve this problem.

Get it in the form y = mx + b. That is, just solve for y.

In general, "solve for y" does not mean determine exactly what number y is. y is a variable. It varies; it does not have just one value. "solve for y" means get "y" by itself on one side of the equation. That can be done by doing the same thing to both sides of the equation.
