word problem: cost of renting unit for 8 hours

hey evrybody if you are someone who has read my post before you know i cant
do word problems. I seriosly cant. So i would really appreciate it if you could help me. thanx-the problem is:Jean rents an electric sander for $2.50 per hour plus $6.00 for the sandpaper. Find the cost of renting the sander for 8 hours.


ok even i know this is an easy question but never the less i dont get it.

your answer would end up being $26.00 if you use the equatoin : 8(2.50) + 6=
so 8(2.50) = 20 , 20 + 6 =26 :D

well eva this problem is easy but i understand if u dont get or understand the word problems well first u multiply 2.50 by 8 and what ever anwser you get you add 6.00 and the total you get is you whole anwser well hope u understand them a little better now

for every hour your going to add $2.50 so for 8 hours your going to have to multiply 8 and $2.50.. so you just add $6 once because it dosent tell you how many sandpapers she bought. see, if the problem would have said she needed two sandpapers, then you would add $12 to the answer.
