if i was to factor down

-12x^2-13x+4=0

would i get...

(-4x-13)(3x-1)

Don't private message me. Your answer is wrong. How did you arrive at it?

i took the -12x^ and the 4 and found a common factor and went form there! how is it wrong?

Check it. Multiply what you have out and tell me what you get.

Please reply showing your steps. For instance, how did you arrive at "(-13)(-4) = +4"?

Thank you.

Eliz.

umm i do also want to ask how you got there
ok, when you get an answer, always foil it back to check

you got: (-4x-13)(3x-1)
do you know how to foil?
if not, then i suggest you study that first
if you do, try to foil it

ok, so you got this: -12x^2-13x+4=0
there is another way you can do this...
hint: try to take out the negative sign on the first "x" variable somehow :)

I hope this helps

Find two numbers which when multiplied equal -48(because (-12)(4)=-48)
and when added equal -13.

-16 and 3

(-16)(3)=-48, -16+3=-13

\(\displaystyle {-12}x^{2}-13x+4\)

\(\displaystyle {-12}x^{2}-16x+3x+4\)

\(\displaystyle ({-12}x^{2}-16x)+(3x+4)\)

Now finish?.
