Need help solving linear equation: -5(1x + 4) = 20

-5(1x+4)=20

-5 * 1x = -5x
-5 * 4 = -20
so:
-5x - 20 = 20
If you can't finish it, you need teaching...see your teacher.

It would be nice to know something concerning your personal efforts. Please show your work.

-5(1x+4) = 20

Divide by -5

1x+4 = -4

Subtract 4

1x = -8

Don't write the coeficient when it is '1'

x = -8

Where are you struggling?
