Okay, I am having a lot of trouble with factoring so I'm sure that I will be doing many posts as I continue to work through this unit. Here is my first question:

6 a^2 b^2 + 8 a b^3 = (2•3•a•a•b•b) + (3•3•2•a•b•b•b)

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .= (2ab•3ab) + (3ab•3b•2b)

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .= 3ab(2ab + 3b•2b)

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .= 3ab(2ab + 6b)

Is this how I'm supposed to do this problem?

Just factor out the greatest common factors:

\(\displaystyle \L\\6a^{2}b^{2}+8ab^{3}\)

\(\displaystyle \L\\2ab^{2}(3a+4b)\)

I am still struggling with other problems in my book and was wondering if somebody could IM me and go through it with me.

I'll be waiting, Thanks!!

If you are needing on-demand, guaranteed replies, you will need to contract with a paid service which offers this. Or, if you are wanting somebody to walk you through your book, re-teaching the material, you would probably be best served by hiring somebody local to your area. Meeting a few hours a week (daily would be best), you may be able to catch up with the materia.

But on free services such as this, you will need to be considerate of the fact that there is no paid staff waiting on-hand to provide instant replies. The volunteers surf by when they are able; you should expect to wait hours, even days, for an online reply.

Thank you for your consideration.

Eliz.
