I'm doing something backwards but here it goes...
Angel has 18ft of molding from which he needs to make a rectangular frame.
Because of the dimensions of the mirror being framed, the frame must be twice as long as its is wide.
What should the dimensions of the frame be?

heres what i did

let l = the length
let w = the width

2l + 2w = 18
w = 2l

2l + 2w = 18
2l + 2(2l) = 18
2l + 4l = 18
6l = 18
divide both sides by 6
l = 3

w = 2l
w = 2(3)
w = 6

obviously the length should be 6 and the width 3 but I cant see where I went wrong

Careful Ginny: that should be l = 2w
