There are dishes that need to be rinsed. John can rinse them in minutes by himself. It will take his friend Bob minutes to rinse these dishes. How long will it take them if they rinse these dishes together?

I'm going with "not quite as many minutes".

This proves why the strictest type of word problems are the easiest. In the absence of any quantitative information, you can only give an answer in words, such as "Less, unless they get in each other's way."

John can rinse them in minutes by himself. The number is missing in this sentence. How many minutes?

It will take his friend Bob minutes to rinse these dishes. The number of minutes is missing in this sentence, too.
