Also, if a numerator contains more than one term, you need to type grouping symbols around the numerator. Same goes for denominators.

Otherwise, it's not clear what's in the numerator or denominator.


For example, if one of the numerators is the sum of two terms like 3x+2, and the denominator is something like x-1, then we must type grouping symbols around both the numerator and denominator:

(3x + 2)/(x - 1)


Please type grouping symbols around your numerators and denominators, when they contain more than one term.

You typed: 3/4=1-3x-2/x-1 This is what it means: \(\displaystyle \frac{3}{4} = 1 - 3x - \frac{2}{x} - 1\)

(I changed the second equals sign to a minus sign.)

Typing: 3/4 = 1 - (3x - 2)/(x - 1) instead means \(\displaystyle \frac{3}{4} = 1 - \frac{3x - 2}{x - 1}\)

The grouping symbols show clearly what belongs in the numerator and what belongs in the denominator.
