write the value of the variable that make a denominator zero these are the restriction on the variable 1/x+1 +2=5/x+1 the restrictions on the variable are X=

?

Tommy, you put up seven posts with no work shown, no questions of your own asked, and no statements about what you already know or tried.

That's not how it goes, here.

We need to type grouping symbols around denominators, okay?

My guess:

\(\displaystyle \frac{1}{x + 1} \ + \ 2 \ = \ \frac{5}{x + 1}\)

Is this correct?

If so, then here is how we type it:

1/(x + 1) + 2 = 5/(x + 1)

Look at the two denominators. They're asking for the value of x that makes the denominators zero.

In other words, solve:

x + 1 = 0

Otherwise, if my guess is wrong, please correct the given information.

Can you make some statements in your posts about why you're stuck or what you've tried.
