Number one kinda seems impossible to solve without knowing the indivudual sales and their amounts... =/
Since I'm not not sure if I should be giving out math advice, this answer should be checked, but I'm pretty sure that for number two, you would solve it by...
say you have an item at the mall for $100... take off ten percent, and it's down to 90$ (10% of 100 = 10, 10010=90) 15% off of 90= 13.5, 9013.5= 76.5, so 10076.5 =24.5, and your answer is C... I'm almost positive that's right, but my method might be a little hard to understand, if you want a better explaination, let me know...

commission = 8% of 200 +5% of 400

answer to second part is 23.5%...
10076.5 =23.5
another way to do this is to make the orinal price $x. First discount of 10% leaves you with $0.90x
Second discount of 15% has this impact = $0.90x times 0.85
=$0.765x
Thismeans the item is 76.5% of the original price or a discount of 23.5%
