I normally know how to do these but for some reason can't find my error when doing the problem, 5|3x-4|=x+1
Here are my steps to get the positve case:
|3x-4|=x/5+1/5 divided each side by 5
(3x-4=x/5+1/5)5 multiplyed everything by 5 to get rid of fractions
15x-20=x+1
14x-20=1 subtracted x from each side
14x=21
I get x=3/2 and the right answer is 3/5, can someone point out where i went wrong?
