The problem asks find the x and y intercepts of the graph of the equation

y=x^2-5x+6

for the y I got

y=(0)^2-5(0)+6
y=6

(0,6)

On the x do i factor?

0=(x-5)(x-1)

5=x
1=x

(5,0) (1,0)

Not sure if thats what I do or not? any help would be appreciated.

You picked the right methods for both intercepts, but I think you factored the expression incorrectly...

y=x^2-5x+6

should factor to

y=(x-3)(x-2)
Since (-3)(-2) = 6
and -3-2 = -5

Otherwise, I think you're ok.

Thanks for pointing out my error. Don't know what I was thinking. The process is right though?

Thanks Again

You didn't say what the points were after the corrected factorization, but you had them right for the wrong one so you probably got them right for the right one. Huh???

Actually I had them wrong I had (3,0) (2,0)

Don't you set each factor equal to 0 and solve

(x-3)=0
(x-2)=0

x=3,2

Yes, you do and you did.
(3,0) and (2,0) is correct.
