ax+by+ay+bx=0

ax+bx+ay+by=0
x(a+b)+y(a+b)
(x+y)(a+b)
Correct?

This is an example commutative property, not distributive property correct?

Why? There's an awful lot of Distributive Property of Multiplication over Addition going on there.

falling object question

So it is distributive AND communative properties? I thought it was just communative.

"Examples" of properties, in my experience, use only one property, and do so fairly clearly. The example you posted does not conform to that.

Were the instructions to "pick the one property illustrated by the following", or "list all the properties used in the following", or something else?

Thank you.

Eliz.

It asked if we used distributive and commuative properties for addition.
