help please

This is the definition of a derivative. This gives you the tangent line to the graph of f at a point.

Sub in x=2+h in your equation and simplify.

\(\displaystyle \frac{(3(2+h)^{2}-(2+h)+5)-(3(2)^{2}-2+5)}{h}\)

If you take the limit of your answer as h approaches 0 you should get the same answer as when you simply take the derivative of your function at x=2

I made a video where I worked out the problem for you.
This video is approximately 6.4MB so if you are on dialup it
might take a while to load.

I worked through the enitre problem.

You may want to pause it and work ahead to see if you are working
it our correctly.

Let me know if the quality is not high enough.

Cheers

Wow! That was very nice of you to shoot a video for someone! I also appreciated it! :D I'm afraid nothing beats "visual" tutoring. Thanks for making me realize that.
