Thankyou

4^x-3=9
would be:

(x-3)log(4)=log(9)
(x-3)=log(9)/Log(4)
x=log(9)/log(4)3

is this also the correct solution for this problem?

4^x-3=9 Don't forget parentheses: 4^(x-3) = 9
would be:

(x-3)log(4)=log(9)
(x-3)=log(9)/Log(4)
x=log(9)/log(4) + 3

is this also the correct solution for this problem?
Provided that plus should be there, absolutely correct!

You can check by evaluating your solution for x and plugging this into the left-hand side of the original equation using your calculator. You should get 4^(4.58496 - 3) = 9 (or very close to depending on how you round).
