With the or, x can be any number 'cause every number is one or the other. The graph would be
(-oo,oo)
With the and, it has to be true for BOTH. The graph is (1,4]. The ( means that the 1 is not part of the answer. The ] means that the 4 is part of the answer. Any number bigger than 1 and not bigger than 4
