\(\displaystyle \L a^3-b^3\)

I do not remember how to factor this out.
The formula is: \(\displaystyle \L a^3-b^3=(a-b)(a^2+ab+b^2).\)

A useful mnemonic for the sum or difference of two cubes is SOAP, an acronym for:

Same
Opposite
Always Positive

Matt has given you a great response. Please make sure that you have MEMORIZED these patterns:

a3 + b3 = (a + b)(a2 - ab + b2)

a3 - b3 = (a - b)(a2 + ab + b2)
