Hello all,

The volume of the box is represented by (x to the second power + 5x+6)(x+5). Find the polynomial that represents the area of the bottom of the box.

Question...I am having a hard time with the formula. Do I take the above numer and divide it by 2?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You got V = (x^2 + 5x + 6)(x + 5)

To me, your problem makes no sense...

(x + 3)(x + 2) = x^2 + 5x + 6

So V = (x + 3)(x + 2)(x + 5)

So we have a box with dimensions (x + 3), (x + 2) and (x + 5)

Which of those is the height? Or the width? Or the length?

You sure you supplied ALL original information?

yes that is it, word wise. But there was a small diagram of a rectangular cube with x+2 for the height.

That was the additional information that the tutor has asked about. Now you need to consider the relationship between cross-sectional area, height, and volume.
