ok well i have a problem that i would appreciate help with
ok here it is-

The Nut Shoppe has 10 kg of mixed cashwews and pecans, which sell for $8.40 per kilogram. Cashews alone sell for $8 per kilogram, and pecans sell for $9 per kilogram. How many kilograms of each are in the mix?

ok i dont know how to get the amount and percent
help is appreciated
many thanks,
Phillip

well first you want to multiply $8.40 by 10 (to get the total amount it would cost)

$84

Then you want to figure the ratio of each. I usually start off by doing half and half
5 (kg) times 8 for the cashews = 40
5 (kg) times 9 for the pecans =45

of course this is too much. So then try 6 kg of cashews and 4 kg of pecans.....

Hope this helps!

It appears to me that someone could spend a little more time with math and a little less time with game systems.

Name Stuff
X = # of kg of cashews in the mixture
Y = # of kg of pecans in the mixture

Equate Stuff

Mass

X + Y = 10 kg

Cost

X*($8) + Y*($9) = (10 kg)*($8.40)

That's enough information.

ok thanks a BUNCH!
=)
lol I'm not allowed to play video games on school days *tear tear* but oh well who's counting?

Earlier this evening I finished my official 1/2 hour of aerobic exercise on DDR!!

So, what did you get for X and Y?
