Hey everyone, I just found this site and it would be greatly appreciated if and all could reply with the answers to the following:

1. In the upper triangle, the shortest side has length 18, and the middle side has length 27. In the lower triangle, the shortest side has length 14, the middle side has length 21, and the longest side has length 28. Find the length, x, of the longest side of the upper triangle.
Options: a. x = 34 b. x = 36 c. x = 45 d. x = 28

2. Find an equation of variation in which y varies inversely as x and the following is true. y = 20, when x = 45
Options:
a. y = 900x b. y=900/x c. y = 0.44/x d. y = 0.44x

3, Find the reciprocal. x^2+7xy-y^2/ x^2-5xy+y^2 (thats a fraction)

4. The volume V of a gas varies inversely as the pressure P on it. The volume of a gas is 200 cm^3 under a pressure of 36kg/cm^2. Find an equation of variation

5. In the outer triangle, the shortest side has length 6, and the middle side has length 9. In the inner triangle, the shortest side has length 2, the middle side has length 3, and the longest side has length 4. Find the length, x, of the longest side of the outer triangle.
Options: a. x = 4 b. x = 16 c. x = 12 d. x = 11

Please show us your work, indicating exactly where you are stuck - so that we know where to begin to help you.

1. In the upper triangle, the shortest side has length 18, and the middle side has length 27. In the lower triangle, the shortest side has length 14, the middle side has length 21, and the longest side has length 28. Find the length, x, of the longest side of the upper triangle.
Options: a. x = 34 b. x = 36 c. x = 45 d. x = 28

We need a diagram for this one.

2. Find an equation of variation in which y varies inversely as x and the following is true. y = 20, when x = 45
Options:
a. y = 900x b. y=900/x c. y = 0.44/x d. y = 0.44x

y = k/x
20 = k/45
k = 900

So (b) is the answer.

3, Find the reciprocal. x^2+7xy-y^2/ x^2-5xy+y^2 (thats a fraction)

(x^2+7xy-y^2)/( x^2-5xy+y^2) has a a reciprocal of (x^2 - 5xy + y^2)/ (x^2 + 7xy - y^2).

4. The volume V of a gas varies inversely as the pressure P on it. The volume of a gas is 200 cm^3 under a pressure of 36kg/cm^2. Find an equation of variation

V = k/P
200 = k/36
7200 = k

v = 7200/P

5. In the outer triangle, the shortest side has length 6, and the middle side has length 9. In the inner triangle, the shortest side has length 2, the middle side has length 3, and the longest side has length 4. Find the length, x, of the longest side of the outer triangle.
Options: a. x = 4 b. x = 16 c. x = 12 d. x = 11[/quote]

Again, a diagram is needed.
