I need help with this problem please. If 19.5 million tons of oxides are emitted into the atmosphere in one year and 1 metric ton = 1000 kg, how many kilograms of oxides were emitted in that year? Please advise. Thank you.

If 19.5 million metric tons of oxides are emitted into the atmosphere in one year and

1 metric ton = 1000 kg What happens if you multiply both sides of this equation by 19.5 million?

how many kilograms of oxides were emitted in that year?

The original solution I had was 19.5 x 1000= 19500 kg. Is that correct? Please advise. Thank you.

I will try again. If I multiply 19.5 x 2000= 39000 kg. Since 1 ton is 1000 kg and I ton = 2000 lbs. Is this correct? Please advise. Thank you for your patience.

The other answer is wrong. I think I know now. It would be 19.5 billion kgs. Is that correct? Please advise. Thank you.

Yes.

There are 19,500,000,000 kg of oxides released into our atmosphere, in one year.
