3D space quadrant identifiers

Good afternoon,
I know that the 4 quadrants in the xy plane are I, II, III, and IV.
In 3D space, what are the 8 quadrants? cubes? sectors? called and how are they identified.
I would assume x,y,and z all positive is sector 1, and x,y,and z all negative is sector 8 but those are just guesses.

They are called octants rather than quadrants because as you already grasp there are eight of them rather than four. Understanding the concept is more important than giving them arbitrary names, and you seem in full possesion of the concept.
