In a seminar, there were 100 Participants, 60 were Engineers, 40 were Educators, 25 were both Engrs. and Edu.?
How many participants were neither Engineers nor Educators?

What efforts have you made?

Using the principle of Inclusion-Exlusion 60 + 40 - 25 = Total Engineers OR Educators

Now what?

I tried 60-25 = 35 + 40-25= 15 = 50?

Incorrect - however, I do not quite follow your "logic".

Have you been taught Venn diagrams? This is solved most expediently using that tool.

Follow TK's work - try to figure out why did he suggest that you should subtract 25 from (60+40).

Hello, Alphard!

Draw a Venn diagram.

Or complete this chart:

. . \(\displaystyle \begin{array}{c||c|c||c|} & \text{Educator} & \text{Not Edu.} & \text{Total} \\ \hline\hline \text{Engineer} & 25 && 60 \\ \hline \text{Not Eng.} &&& \\ \hline\hline \text{Total} & 40 && 100 \\ \hline \end{array}\)
