Okay good. Remember our original aim was to get x, the number of minutes which the two companies charge the same fee.
This is another proportion part, like the tiles one, except it's about fractions instead.
0.1x = 10
x = ?

It's just like 0.1 of a cake cost 10 c, how much would 1 whole cake cost?
so are you trying to say that the cake is 10c a slice?
Yes, and the slice was made such that the cake was cut in 10 equal slices. (because 0.1 = 1/10)
so wouldn,t x=10?
Let's see.
0.1x = 10
Taking x = 10, we get:
(0.1 * 10) = 10
When you work this out you get:
1 = 10
Which is false! D:
Okay, let's take it like that:
10 cakes cost $100
1 cake will cost $100/10 = $10
Right?
Same thing, with fractions:
Half a cake (0.5) costs $5
1 whole cake will cost $5/0.5 = $10
A third of a cake costs $3
1 whole cake will cost [tex]3 \div \frac{1}{3} = 3 \times 3 = 9[/tex]
And if you check it back, if 1 cake costs $9, a third of it should indeed be $3.
Could you give 0.1x = 10 another try?
Would we add something to this?
I'm not sure what you mean here...![]()
0.1x=10 I am not sure what I should do with this next im sorry.
