I was reviewing some class notes and cannot for the life of me see how the equation went from one step to another. The equation goes from:

gif.latex
to
gif.latex

I'm not sure if I'm missing something simple or possibly missing part of the notes, but I just can't seem to understand how. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Are you simply staring at it or trying to manipulate it with pencil and paper??!!

Hints:

3 + 3 = 6

and

3 - 3 = 0

x ± 0 = x

Step 1: [(3+x)+3][(3+x)-3]/x
Step 2: [3+x+3][3+x-3]/x
Step 3: [6+x][0+x]/x
Step 4: [6+x][x]/x
