I have two fairly simple problems, and I know I could probably find the answers somewhere online, but I also want to understand the steps so I can complete future problems like these myself..If you know what you're doing please give me the steps and the answer would help too :)

Solve:
1.6^(4x)=102
2.log[base3]+log(4x-1)=5

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Solve:
1.6^(4x)=102
2.log[base3]+log(4x-1)=5

For the first problem, start by taking the logarithm of both sides:

log [1.6^(4x)] = log (102)

Now, for both problems (although problem 2 seems to be missing something...), check out these two web pages to learn how to manipulate logarithms; they have great examples and explanations:

Try applying this to these problems and show us how you're doing.
