I have been trying to figure this one out, it seems like I have the equations correct, but am not putting everything together... I hope someone can help!

A random sample is selected from a normal population. The population mean is u = 60 and the population standard deviation is sigma = 15. After a treatment is given to the members of the sample, the sample mean is M = 65. The sample size is 25.

Null Hypothesis is Ho: u = 60
Hi: u<>60
The probability of a Type 1 Error is 0.05

From my calculations, I am getting: SE[M] = 3, and Z = 5/3. What I can't figure out is: Is the sample mean sufficient to conclude that the treatment has a significant effect? Do I need to calculate a P-value? Please help!!!! Thank you!!!

I believe the most common difficulty with such problems is knowing when you are done.

Were you asked to calculate a p-value?
