Can anyone answer this question:-
A vessel has a maximum allowable draught of 8.7m in fresh water, 1000kg/m3 and 8.5m in sea water 1.025. Sea water TPC is 30.
The vessel is mistakenly loaded to a draught of 8.7m in a river of 1.008 desnity. Determine the mass to be removed before the vessel can commence its voyage to correspond with the maximum allowable draught in sea water?

A 192
B 195
C 405
D 600

I can get close to 408t, can anyone help?

We need to see your work on this one, too.

The presumption is that the allowed mass of the vessel is the same, and the difference in draught is do only to the density of the water. I would also assume that the cross-sectional area at the waterline is constant (vertical sides), I would call the area A, and hope that it cancels out of the formulas.

What steps did you follow?
