very basic question and i cant get the right answer not sure what im doing wrong.

9/3 + 5*2 - 5 + 2/3*9

my working

= 3 + 10 - 5 + 6
= 13 - 11
= 2

book has different answer S:

or are you suppose to

9/3 + 5*2 - 5 + 2/3*9
= 3 + 10 + 6 - 5
= 19 - 5
= 14

i understand the symbols + - belong to the number they are in front of and im meant to do multiplication and division first is that right?

9/3 + 5*2 - 5 + 2/3*9

my working

= 3 + 10 - 5 + 6
= 13 - 11 This is wrong. You have to add 6 to 13.
= 2

book has different answer S:

or are you suppose to

9/3 + 5*2 - 5 + 2/3*9
= (3 + 10 + 6) - 5
Here the sum is 19.
= 19 - 5
= 14

Yes

9/3 + 5*2 - 5 + 2/3*9

or are you suppose to

9/3 + 5*2 - 5 + 2/3*9

= 3 + 10 - 5 + 6 <--- This step to the left (which I inserted), not the step after this line, follows from the line above, so don't skip writing this.

= 3 + 10 + 6 - 5

= 19 - 5

= 14
