Please help with math problem

Evaluate

E (with the 4 above it) i/2 i = -6
"Evaluate" usually means "plug a value in and simplify", or otherwise simplify to arrive at a numerical value for an expression. One does not "evaluate" an equation; one "solves" it. So this question is quite puzzling.

What is the meaning of the "E"? Is it a variable of some sort? Are you given a value for it? Is the "i" the "imaginary"? What do you mean by "the 4"? Were the instructions to "evaluate" or to "solve"? What are your thoughts? What have you tried so far?

Please be complete. Thank you! ;)

Is this the problem:

\(\displaystyle Evaluate\ \displaystyle \sum_{i=-6}^4\dfrac{i}{2}.\)
If this is the problem (and it is very clever of JeffM to get this from what you wrote!) then it simply means: replace the "i" in "i/2" with -6, -5, -4, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 2, and 4 and add those 11 numbers.
