What equation is solved by the graphed systems of equations?Screen Shot 2013-09-23 at 8.14.15 AM.jpg

(graph attached)

answer options:
3x + 4 = 5x - 10

3x - 4 = 5x - 10
3x + 4 = 5x + 10
3x - 4 = 5x + 10

If you are stuck at the beginning tell us and we'll start with the definitions e.g. define angles of depression.

If you honestly do not have the slightest idea how to start- don't know how to find the equation of a straight line or how the points on a graph are related to its equation, then you need much more help than we can provide. Talk to your teacher about this!

No wonder you are confused: this problem makes little sense.

The given system has one solution, namely the point (7, 25).

What is the equation of a specific point? Trick question: an infinite number of equations include a specific point.

So what this question is really asking is this:

Which of equations a, b, c, or d contains the point (7, 25).

All this razzmatazz about systems of equations is just stuff to scramble your brain.

So what do i do first?
Do you know how to plot points? How to graph linear functions? What "slope" is? How to find line equations from their graphs? How to evaluate expressions?

As has been pointed out, we cannot provide the weeks or months of (apparently) missing background material. But if you'd like to attempt self-study, we can try to find some online lessons that may help you get started. However, it would useful to have some idea how far back the lessons should start. So please be specific. Thank you! ;)

So what do i do first?
You put the indicated values of x and y, namely 7 and 25, into the given equations to see which one is true. This turns out to be rather simple in this particular problem because the given equations do not even mention y.

This is the problem statement
