A carpet installer changes $100 plus three dollar per square yard to install carpet in a home. The total cost ,c, to have x square feet of carpet installed is given by c(x)=3x+100. The ordered pair (62,295) is the solution of the quotation . Write a sentence that describes this ordered pair.

The ordered pair (62,295) means the carpet installer charged $295 for 62 square feet.

Thank you for your help.

The problem states the equation is for square feet: c(x) = 3x + 100.

The OP verified, however, that the cost is $3 per square yard.

As Denis noted, if the cost is $3 per square yard, then the total job cost is:

c(x) = 100 + 1/3 * 62 = approximately $121.

If the cost is $3 per square foot, then the total job cost is:

c(x) = 100 + 3*62 = 100 + 186 = $286

There is information wrong/missing in this problem.
