Solve the system for all real solutions, using any suitable method. (If the system is inconsistent, enter INCONSISTENT. If the system is dependent, enter DEPENDENT.)

y = 2x2
y = −3x5

(x, y) = ( )

Hello Dwayne:

There are different methods, to solve this system. What have you been taught? Where is your work, on this exercise?

Please take time to read the forum guidelines, before posting your reply; here's a link to the summary page.

(You'll find links to the complete rules and guidelines near the bottom.)

Thank you! :cool:

I will assume the system to be as follows, and I will assume that the red coloring of the constants on the right-hand sides of the two equations is of no particular significance, so we have:

. . . . .\(\displaystyle \left\{\begin{array}{ll}y\, =\, 2x\, -\, 2\\y\, =\, -3x\, -\, 5\end{array}\right.\)

What method(s) have you learned for solving systems of equations? How far have you gotten in applying your chosen method? Where are you getting stuck?

Please be complete. Thank you! ;)
