The correct time is 12.30 . An electric clock is running backwards and showing 6.24. The power was cut @ 9.06. If the clock keeps accurate time, how long has the power been switched off ? The s'oln is 42 mins, I don't see where it comes from.
I assume the final line will involve 2 simultaneous equations, solve for hour and minutes. Would you use the identities for showing degrees on a normal clock- 30h + m/2 and 6m ? Thanks.

I'm not sure what this means. "The correct time is 12.30 . An electric clock is running backwards and showing 6.24. The power was cut @ 9.06. If the clock keeps accurate time".

If the power was cut how can it be running at all, backwards or forwards? If you meant "an electric clock was running backwards", before the power was cut, how could it "keep accurate time"?

I do not understand the posted scenario, either.

If the hands of an electric clock accurately show 9:06 when the power is lost, the hands will be frozen until power is restored. How did the hands change to 6:24 without power?

If this is a homework exercise, please re-post the given information verbatim.

Cheers :)
