please help cosa / 1-sin a=? suppose cot(x)= - 1/3 and angle(x) lies in quadrant2, find sin(x) and cos(x)

Is this one exercise, or two? Either way, what have you tried so far? Where are you stuck?

I assume that the first problem is:

\(\displaystyle \dfrac{cos(α)}{1-sin(α)} \ = \ ?\)

If it is then it should have been written as

cos(a) / [1-sin(a)]=?

Those brackets are very important!!

Hint:

multiply the numerator and the denominator by [1 + sin(α)]

\(\displaystyle \dfrac{cos(α)}{1-sin(α)} \ = \ \dfrac{cos(α)[1+sin(α)]}{[1-sin(α)][1+sin(α)]} \ = \ ?\) ..... continue....
