Confusing problem

I have this triangle:

But the problem is that depending on which way you solve the problem, you get different values for x. Any ideas?

It's hard to know what to tell you when you don't show what different ways you solved this problem and what different values you got.

In any case, as Denis said, that is a 60-30 right triange so the side opposite the 30 degree angle is half the hypotenuse*. Here that side is 8 so the hypotenuse has length 16. You are told that part of that segment has length "5" and x is the length of the other part.
