Hi everyone

I'm trying to negate these two statements, I was wondering if someone could check for problems. I don't trust myself. Haha

1. Truth is not always popular, but it is always right.

I put it like this

-p ^ q

By negating that I got

p v - q

My answer is : Truth is always popular, or it is not always right.

Is this correct?

2. Some young people are not athletic.

I have lots of problems with this one.

I have no idea how to write this out to understand it mathematically.

My best try : All young people are athletic.

Negation of some would be all and the negation of not athletic would be athletic. Does that make sense?

Thanks.

I would count them correct. Note some may want "it is not always right" to be "it is sometimes wrong".
