I am so confused on how to convert a math problem. I work in the medical field so this is from an operative report. The doctor performed a debridement of a wound from the calf and ankle and it measured 23 x 12 and 17 x 10 cm. He also did this from the thigh and it measured 23 x14 and 5 x 10 cm. The problem is, to code this procedure they want it in square cm. I understand you can't convert cm to sq cm so what do I do? You're help is extremely appreciated!

I'm not clear what you mean by "23 x 12 and 17 x 10 cm" Are those two different areas, one approximately a rectangle with length 23 cm and width 12 cm and the other a rectangle with length 17 cm and 10 cm? If so then you find the area of a rectangle, in square cm, by multiplying: (23 cm)(12 cm)= 276 square cm and (17 cm)(10 cm)= 170 square cm.

Thank you so much! Yes that's two different areas. I wasn't sure if what I was doing was correct or not because it seems like that is such a large area. I appreciate your prompt response.
