Algebra: Evaluation, changing the subject of formula

My book just says: Solve (5x)/(x+1)-(2)/(x-1)=8

Please share your work/thoughts about this assignment.

Can you simplify (without using calculator):

5/8 - 2/7 = ? .................. If you can please show your work

Presumably your book also teaches how to solve rational equations. What have you tried of what you were taught? Did you try multiplying both sides by the LCD?
 
On this forum we want to help the student arrive at the correct answer. This means that you have to be actively involved to get help. Please share with us what you have done so far.

Also, why is your title Evaluation, changing the subject of formula? Did you post the entire problem?

I've managed to solve it by moving the constant to the left and then writing all denominators above the LCD, Thank You!!
