1. sqrt 4000 is close to what integer?

2. (2+sqrt3)(3-sqrt3)

3. (sqrt18)(sqrt2)

4. The cost C in dollars to order N picture frames is given by the formula C=4N+P where P is a constant equal to 5. How much does it cost to order 3 picture frames?

\(\displaystyle \L \;(2\,+\,sqrt{3})\,(2\,-\,sqrt{3})\)

Difference of Squares states:\(\displaystyle \L \;(a\,+\,b)(a\,-\,b)\,=\,{a}^2\,-\,{b}^2\)

So the answer is:\(\displaystyle \L \;4\,-\,3\)

You've been given the answer to (4) in another one of your threads. Where are you stuck on the first three? (Since the test questions will, naturally, have different numbers, you'll need to understand the methods in order to pass the test. So giving you more answers wouldn't help, in the long term.)

Please reply showing what you have tried and where you are stuck. For instance, you've factored "4000" and... then what? For (2), you've "FOILed" and... then what? For (3), you've converted sqrt[a]sqrt to sqrt[ab] and... then what?

Please be specific. Thank you.

Eliz.
