Any and all of our tutors can help here. It would be extremely helpful if your daughter could talk to us directly. Please ask her to write the definitions of the following terms:

  1. Arithmetic sequence
  2. Common difference - and how is it given in this problem
  3. The nth. term of the sequence
 
Let a= 1st term and d = common difference.
1 term is a
2nd term is a + 1d
3rd term is a + 2d
4th term is a + 3d
...
10th term is a +?d = 30
...
16th term is a + ??d = 32
...
nth term is a + ???d

Fill the value for ? and ??.
Now you have two equations in two terms.
If you subtract these two terms, then the a's cancel out to 0.
Now solve for d

To find out what the nth term is find out the value of a and the value for ???
 
Values of n can be taken as 10 and 16 in all four options to check whether respective values of a10 and a16 match with their given values or not.
