Quick questions, for GCSE Maths:
how, do you solve the questions in the following style:
Expand (x+3)(x+5) and use the answer to find the value of 3.2 * 5.2.
Expand (y+9)(y+5) and use the answer to 9.01*5.01.

Its confusing so would someone mind explaining step by step as I don't understand...

Have you completed the first step - i.e. - expand (x+3)(x+5) ? What did you get for expanded expression?

Please show us what you have tried and exactly where you are stuck.

The BBC BITESIZE website deals specifically with the GCSE Maths course.

The Section on
Algebraic expressions should provide you with the basics of what you need to know.
Pages 3 (
Expanding brackets) & 4 (Expanding double brackets) in that topic deal directly with your "problem" but I would recommend that you start at the beginning and work your way through it (to at least page 4) then see if you can use the 'hint' provided by @Steven G in Post #3 above.

Thanks for your response.
My expansion for q 1:
X^2 + 8x + 15

I replace the x with 0.2...

Ok but I don't understand the second question..

Similarly

Expand (y+9)(y+5)

You are given: y+9 = 9.01 then

y = ?

Continue.....

Same hint, different numbers: (0.01+9) = 9.01 and (0.01 + 5) = 5.01.
Now do exactly the same steps you did for part 1.
