Help with Row Vectors and Linear Algebra??

I'm in a linear algebra class and were learning about row reduction. I understand row reduction a bit, but my teacher wants us to use row vectors to solve the problems. I can't wrap my head around the whole row vector way of solving problems, and the teacher doesn't want to answer any question ((. We have to learn by notes only. I don't understand how we are supposed to use row vectors and transpose to do row reduction.

Could someone help me understand how the problems are worked?
