Here is an example

Simone's average score for seven tests is 82 points. If she scores 90 points on her eighth test, what is the average of all eight test scores.

I really need help on this!! It is for my math counts class and I am really bad at mean and things like that.

Thanks!

Add up the 8 grades or possible 8 grades and then divide by 8

Let [math]T_i[/math] be the ith test score, and you are given: [math]\frac{T_1+T_2+..+T_7}{7} = 82[/math]Goal is to solve: [math]\frac{T_1+T_2+...T_7 + 90}{8} =?[/math]Hint: use subtitution

That is the exact problem
No one said it wasn't!

Two people have given you hints; apparently you don't understand what they are telling you. The trouble is, we know nothing yet about what your own thinking is, so we could see what help you need.

The average of the 8 scores will be the sum of the 8 scores, divided by 8. You need to find that sum.

You know the 8th score; and you can find the sum of the first 7, because you know their average.

If the average of 7 scores is 82, then what did they divide by 7 to get that average?
