Here is the problem
If h(x) is a horizontal translation 8 units
left of f(x) = -2x - 5, what is the rule for
h(x)?
F h(x) = -2x + 1
G h(x) = -2x - 13
H h(x) = -2x + 3
J h(x) = -2x + 8

My work:
h(x) = -2(x+8)-5
-2x-16-5
h(x)= -2x-21 <== This answer is not up there

Is It because the negative next to the 2 is a -1?

i think its because -1 is next to 2

The x intercept of the original line is x=-5/2=-2.5.
The x intercept of the line y =-2x-21 is x=-21/2=-10.5.
So the x int has moved 8 units to the left, as has every other point on the original line.
There seems to be an error in the question as the correct option is not there.
My thought is that they meant to ask for a vertical movement of 8 units, in which case the answer is there.
