Note that the question involves the four boxes in the upper left of the data set.

You just need to cross out all entries where x is NOT less than or equal to 2 and cross out all entries where y is NOT greater than 4. Now add up all the other values. This is just what pka said.

P(X≤2, Y≤4) = 1/12 + 1/12 + 1/6 + 1/24
= 4/24 + 4/24 + 1/24
= 9/24
= 3/8
