1st time i'm stuck. its a much bigger problem, but if you can explain this I'm all good from there...
i press enter and it ruins my art work with the numbers and signs. read it as 1 minus the fraction of 1 over x plus 1.
1 - 1/x+1 1 minus the fraction of 1 in the numerator and x+1 in the denominator. trying to find the lcd they show answer as - (x-1)
1-___1____
x + 1

Is your problem:

\(\displaystyle 1 - \frac{1}{x+1}\)

However, I do not see a "question" here.

Different from what? Subhotosh did not give you an answer!

BTW the LCD is NOT -(x-1). It is x+1.
