Percentage Equivalencies

I went with that they are all equivalent expressions. The only thing that trips me up a bit is the tax answer. I'm assuming that the markup and tax are applied at the same time, instead of the tax being applied after the markup?

I agree: (b) is not the same. They do seem to be thinking differently than I would; surely tax would be applied after the markup (unless things are done differently in your country), so the result would be 1.09*1.70x, not (1 + 0.70 + 0.09)x.

3 of the choices are the same so one has to assume that the sales tax is not on the markup. I agree that this makes no sense to me.
