Need to top the pool level by 6 cm. The surface area of the pool is 15cm^2. The hose delivers water at the rate of 1600 litter per hour.

What volume of water needs to be added. (answer in cubic cm)

How many minutes must the water run to top the pool?

Are my answers correct?

V= SA * h
V= 15 m^2 * 6cm
V= 150 000 cm^2 * 6cm (m^2 to cm^2)
V= 900 000 cm^3

hose delivers 1600 L/h

900 000 cm^3= 900 000 mL (cm^3 to mL)
900 000 mL= 900 L (mL to L)

1600/60 min= 900/x
1600 x = 60*900
1600 x =54000
x = 54000/1600
x = 33.75 min

You haven't stated the problem you are solving! Also, you didn't define your variables. So you haven't fully communicated what you are doing.

Is the pool a prism, with vertical sides? And does "surface area" refer to just the top surface of the water? And are you defining h as the additional depth of water, and V as the volume of that water? Then you are right that V = SA*h.

You said at the top that the surface area is 15cm^2; then in your work you called it 15 m^2. I assume the latter is correct!

Beyond that, your work looks correct.

Yes, the SA is 15m^2 and the pool walls at the water surface are vertical. The answer is correct! yay :)
