A farmer buys 100 animals for $100. The animals include at least one cow, one pig, and one chicken. If a cow costs $10, a pig costs $3, and a chicken costs $0.50, how many of each did he buy?

Hello, greatwhiteshark!

Another classic problem . . .

A farmer buys 100 animals for $100.
The animals include at least one cow, one pig, and one chicken.
If a cow costs $10, a pig costs $3, and a chicken costs $0.50, how many of each did he buy?
Let C = number of cows, P = number of pigs, H = number of hens.
. . . Note that: .C < 10

There are 100 animals: . C + P + H .= .100 . [1]

They cost $100: . 10C + 3P + 0.5H .= .100 .= .100 . [2]

Where does this take you? (Hint: Multiply Equation [2] by "2".)
